Possibly the trip of a lifetime? We think so.

Seville, Córdoba, Ronda and The Alhambra. You’ve heard of these places for a reason – they are stunning – and what better time to visit than in February when it is warm and light but avoiding the heat and the crowds of the main tourist season.

We’ll be accompanied by local guides on our visit days who will have a personal sound system so you can hear them at a distance without any need for raised voices.

We offer the choice between travelling by coach to and from England to see the landscape change and visit the towns of Tours in France and Burgos in Spain, or to fly direct to Seville and depart via Malaga.

Immediately below you’ll discover the itinerary should you wish to travel through France and Spain by coach, and beneath this there is an explanation of the flights required to join the tour.

Travelling by coach, we have been careful to break the journey into reasonable days so there will be time for breaks, not having to leave very early or arrive late each day, just nice sightseeing.

Departure Locations & Times

We generally try to depart between 8am and 9am, and exact times will be confirmed in the final timings itinerary which arrives about a week before travel. 

We send this close to travel so we can plan for any major traffic issues which sometimes arise due to road works etc.

What to Expect

Our aim at Pennywood Tours is to give you a relaxing and carefree time where we do all the work so you can sit back and enjoy the trip.

To this end, all tours are escorted by a group leader who will check you on board and make sure you can find your allocated seat. We’ll seat you with the person/people you are booked with but if you know of anyone else on the trip who has booked separately please let us know in advance and we’ll try to seat you all together. The coach will be a super deluxe vehicle with a toilet and is incredibly comfortable.

Our Group Leader will advise you of all the details of travel times, stops, when to return to the coach etc. so you will be in no doubt about what and when. He or she will be available for any additional questions you may have.

We will do our best to stick to our itinerary but you will understand that when there are traffic jams or adverse weather conditions, we may struggle to do everything as planned but we will let you know what information we have in these situations when we have it.

Itinerary for Seville, Córdoba, Ronda and The Alhambra Warm Winter Sun

Day 1To Tours, France

Crossing the Channel by Eurotunnel for speed we head south through Normandy passing Rouen and Le Mans (with a possible stop at Rouen depending on time) to Tours where we spend the night at the Ibis Tours Centre Gare hotel.

Day 2To Burgos, Spain

We head on past Poitiers and Bordeaux (with a possible stop depending on time), across the end of the Pyrenees and into Northern Spain to Burgos for our overnight stop at the ABBA hotel (yes, named after the band apparently!)

Day 3To Seville!

After passing through the stunning landscape of Spain and passing Salamanca (a possible stop depending on time) we reach Seville and the Hotel Macarena, where we base ourselves for this part of the holiday.

Day 4Explore Seville

Today, with a guide, we visit the cathedral where Christopher Columbus is buried, Royal Alcazar Palace, the Jardines de Murillo, Parque de María Luisa and Plaza de España. So many beautiful places all in the city centre.

Day 5Ronda

Again, with a guide, we visit Alameda del Tajo with its stunning views off the edge of a high plateau, then pass the Bullring as we move on to the equally remarkable Puente Nuevo bridge. We take in the Jardines de Cuenca, a spectacular park with stunning views over the surrounding landscape.

Day 6Córdoba

We check out of our hotel and head to Córdoba. With a guide, we visit the Mezquita-Catedral, the quite stunning Mosque of Córdoba, followed by the Jewish Synagogue for yet more stunning architecture and history. After lunch, we explore the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and cross the Roman bridge, then we head for Granada and our new hotel the Occidental, Granada.

Day 7Alhambra and Granada

Again, with a local guide, today we’ll visit Albaicin, the old town of Granada; and finally, set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada, the Alhambra and the Generalife Gardens. Once again, we overnight in Granada at the Occidental.

Day 8Return to Burgos

We head north to Burgos again, on a different route this time, skirting Madrid. We’ll be staying in the same hotel as when we came southwards, for familiarity.

Day 9

Our next stage back to the UK is to the same Tours hotel for comfort and familiarity.

Day 10

Back to the UK via Eurotunnel for speed.

Please note, all venues will require walking, possibly with steps and steep slopes, which may be slippery and uneven. You should be prepared to dress appropriately for the weather.

Please note: Some venue tickets for this trip are tied to the holder specifically to avoid ticket touting. This means we cannot hold them a long way in advance and to guarantee access you must book this holiday before the end of November 2025. It is possible we can buy tickets after this date, but we cannot guarantee this so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Please be aware, each day will comprise walking tours. They will be unhurried, with breaks, but you must be able to walk three miles comfortably over the course of a day to get most of the holiday. On some days you may be able to drop out early if you need a break.

Joining the Tour by Air

You will need to arrange your own flights to Spain, and you are free in how you choose to do this. You can fly direct to Seville from the UK and a transfer to the town centre is around 35 Euro.

In all cases you should be at our Seville hotel on the evening of Sunday 22nd February and the hotel cost from here will be included in the Itinerary.

The tour will finish at checkout from our Granada hotel on Friday 26th February. Malaga is not too far away with lots of flights to the UK, and we suggest if everyone flying returns that way, we can arrange a transfer to the airport/town, but this will lie outside of the Itinerary costs.
