Our Style

Your kind of people…

Many of our guests have never considered themselves as ‘coach trip people’ but saw a visit they really wanted to go on, dipped their toes, and found that travelling with us was a lovely, carefree pleasure.

We deliver an experience akin to a group of friends on a relaxed day out with discrete and unobtrusive care to ensure you’re safe and able to get the most from the day, often in rare and sometimes unique venues.

If you’re single and perhaps haven’t travelled on your own before, we’ll help you with as much advice and support as you need, whether it’s a day trip or a foreign holiday. We have many guests who’ve made good friendships through our trips and we allow everyone space to enjoy the experience as they choose.

Companies often say their customers are important but, being small, our guests frequently become friends so ‘going the extra mile’ is a pleasure.

You can book online, but we also welcome telephone bookings as we know some of you prefer to deal with a human and ask any questions you may have. Besides, it’s always a pleasure to talk to each other.

Finally, you can be sure we are fully compliant with all legislation relating to the provision of holidays and day excursions. We’re keen you should know this so you know you’re in safe hands, and we do suggest you always check that any other companies you may use are also compliant.

Our Ethics

Dealing with you…

We’re keen to offer you good experiences and, as we know, life throws up the unexpected from time-to-time and there are occasions when our guests need to cancel trips due to unforeseen personal circumstances.

In such circumstances, cancellation is nobody’s fault and so, as long as we haven’t paid for the trip, we will always endeavour to refund your money in full.

If we have paid, we’ll do our best to re-sell your tickets and, if we can’t refund or re-sell, we’ll always offer you a special price on a later trip to try and return some of the value you missed.

To us, being open, honest and fair seems to be a much better way of doing business.

The environment…

The environment is a concern to all so we always use modern coaches, which comply with the strictest emissions regulations, including the new Ultra Low Emission Zone coming into effect in London in 2021.

Many older vehicles on the road don’t reach this standard and they have to pay extra fees in order to allow them to visit pollution-sensitive areas. In other words, they pay to pollute, which doesn’t seem good practice to us. We’d rather just reduce our impact on the environment.

In fact, the coaches we use are so clean that, within London, the air they take in contains more pollution than the engine produces, so they’re effectively cleaning the air as they drive!

Travel in comfort…

Our transport is ‘super deluxe’ coaches with a toilet on board. They’re comfortable, as smooth as it’s possible to get, and we try to stop every 90 minutes to 2 hours to refresh ourselves.

We allocate seats so there is no pressure to find one and, if we know you have friends on board, we’ll try to seat you together.

If you haven’t travelled by coach for some time you’ll be amazed at how good they now are with superb suspension and climate control.

The hotels we love to love…

If we need to stay in a hotel, we prefer Four Star in good locations with good food. Often there may be a spa or golf course attached so extras may be available and, where possible, we try to give you as much choice as possible over what you eat and when.

All trips are escorted so we do the work, smooth your way and do the worrying for you!

Our people are chosen because they are lovely, with a natural motivation to help you. They’re not guides but there to smooth your way and help.

We aim to communicate with you clearly, avoiding jargon and helping with any requests or questions you may have.

We like to deal with you on a personal level and we’d rather you ask questions than be unsure about something.

If you’re going to travel, you may as well travel in comfort and style and have the confidence to know someone has it all in hand on your behalf.

 

FAQs

What’s included?

Prices normally include everything: accommodation, entries, tips for hotel porters and the driver. The only exception relates to food, where we like to give you as much freedom of choice as possible but this is always made clear at the time of booking.

Is there a toilet on the coach?

Coaches are super deluxe, comfortable, airconditioned and with a toilet on board, though we like to stop to stretch our legs and make ourselves comfortable every 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Do I need travel insurance?

Not for day trips but we recommend that you do have it for UK holidays in case unexpected circumstances prevent you from coming for any reason.

You must have this for any trips to Europe as health systems abroad are not like the NHS and repatriation to the UK is very expensive.

Is my holiday money safe with you?

Yes, companies offering holidays in the UK are legally obliged to take measures to protect customer money for holidays and Pennywood Tours has done this.

Will you sell my data or use it for anything else?

No, we will only ever use your data in connection with the trips and holidays we sell to you and, under GDPR rules, you may request what information we have about you and you can insist it is altered or deleted.

Disability Access

Pennywood Tours do not specialise in disabled access holidays and we are restricted to the limitations of the coaches and hotels we use and the venues we visit.

For able-bodied individuals, our trips should not present any difficulties and we are always willing to give advice in relation to this.
