What to Expect

Our aim at Pennywood Tours is to give you a relaxing and carefree time where we do all the work so you can sit back and enjoy the trip.

To this end, all tours are escorted by a group leader who will check you on board and make sure you can find your allocated seat. We’ll seat you with the person/people you are booked with but if you know of anyone else on the trip who has booked separately please let us know in advance and we’ll try to seat you all together. The coach will be a super deluxe vehicle with a toilet and is incredibly comfortable.

Our Group Leader will advise you of all the details of travel times, stops, when to return to the coach etc. so you will be in no doubt about what and when. He or she will be available for any additional questions you may have.

We will do our best to stick to our itinerary but you will understand that when there are traffic jams or adverse weather conditions, we may struggle to do everything as planned but we will let you know what information we have in these situations when we have it.

We look forward to seeing you and welcome any questions you may have by contacting us at info@pennywoodtours.com or on 01622 434 981.

I really didn’t enjoy it. Initially we were told on the coach to remain seated upon arrival at Tower pier while the leader collected the tickets for the ship and this was then changed and we were asked to follow her as she went to get the tickets. This I did and when the tickets had been collected I stopped the leader to ask for a ticket as she was about to walk past me. I was then told that I wasn’t supposed to follow her but should have stopped somewhere along the way. I had no idea where as I had not been made aware of this information and was just lucky that I had managed to ask her for a ticket. There were so many passengers that it was difficult to find a seat; queues for food were incredibly long and finding a seat at a table was almost impossible. The food however was very good. When the Captain gave his commentary and told you to look to one side or another, all you were able to see was a crowd of people, it was impossible to see the other side or even the water. I was also unaware that the ship would be making several stops along the way for passengers to disembark and more to get on which lengthened the journey. When we reached Whistable and were told to make our way to the gangplank, there was an enormous queue with people coming from all directions – total confusion and a long wait to disembark. I was surprised that the group leader did not wait until all her passengers had got off the ship and we were all just left to sort ourselves out. No wonder there was such a muddle when it came time to get back on the coach and many passengers had gone to the incorrect pickup point as there was very little clarity. I appreciate the group leader was wearing a yellow jacket to make herself identifiable, but there were several other ladies with the same colour jacket which only added to the confusion. Not your fault, I know, but many of the shops were closed. The coach was very comfortable and the driver excellent but it was a very long day and I regret having gone.
This was my first venture with Pennywood and I am now somewhat apprehensive now about the 3 holidays I have booked for next year.
