We aim to cross by Eurotunnel as it’s faster than the ferry, but we still need time to check in, and we also lose an hour on the crossing. To this end, we have to leave early so we may depart between 5am and 6:30am to ensure there is no rush to reach our hotel on the other side.
The final timings itinerary, which arrives about a week before travel, will confirm exact times.

Our aim at Pennywood Tours is to give you a relaxing and carefree time where we do all the work so you can sit back and enjoy the trip.
To this end, all tours are escorted by a group leader who will check you on board and make sure you can find your allocated seat. We’ll seat you with the person/people you are booked with but if you know of anyone else on the trip who has booked separately please let us know in advance and we’ll try to seat you all together. The coach will be a super deluxe vehicle with a toilet and is incredibly comfortable.
Our Group Leader will advise you of all the details of travel times, stops, when to return to the coach etc. so you will be in no doubt about what and when. He or she will be available for any additional questions you may have.
We will do our best to stick to our itinerary but you will understand that when there are traffic jams or adverse weather conditions, we may struggle to do everything as planned but we will let you know what information we have in these situations when we have it.
We look forward to seeing you and welcome any questions you may have by contacting us at info@pennywoodtours.com or on 01622 434 981.

After departing, we cross the Channel by Eurotunnel and then proceed to St-Valery-sur-Somme for a break.
This picturesque ancient town was the place William the Conqueror launched his invasion against us in 1066, and where the English first held Joan of Arc before her execution in Rouen.
We then progress onward to Amiens where we will stay at the Continental Hotel. This lovely 4* hotel in traditional French architecture is ideally situated near the very centre of the town where you can explore the restaurants and other features of this beautiful town.
On the first day our specialist guide, Gnina Balchin, will host a Champagne tasting where she’ll explain the differences between different Champagnes, and the how’s and why’s of these differences.
In the morning, you can enjoy free time in the centre of Amiens, which is beautiful classic French town.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Champagne Pommery, where we will enjoy a cellar tour and tasting led by Gnina.
In the evening, we return to our hotel in Amiens.
We board our coach and enjoy a scenic tour through vineyard country to Epernay where you can explore the town and perhaps visit the Avenue de Champagne, a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site, a road lined on both sides with stunning properties built by the Champagne houses.
In the afternoon we will enjoy a cellar tour and tasting at Champagne House Charles Mignon, where once again, Gnina will be on hand to discuss the different Champagnes.
We then return to our hotel in Amiens for our last night.
After a leisurely breakfast we wind or way home via Eurotunnel for fast transit.
Please note, all venues will require walking, possibly with steps and steep slopes, which may be slippery and uneven. You should be prepared to dress appropriately for the weather.
